Liked the car and the service but upon sign up of the contract the receptionist told us this, "The ONLY thing you need to make sure of is that the petrol tank is full upon return of the vehicle". "You will receive the bond back as long as the tank is full and there is no damage to the vehicle". "Upon receipt of the vehicle check it over and if you see any damage, take a photo and show us upon return". NOTHING was said about having to clean the vehicle - just another expense that we really could not afford. These hire car companies have cleaners to clean all their vehicles and we did not make the vehicle dirtier than normal. Just our luck it rained during the week we had it.VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I've always been happy with Europcar, but this time I was particularly happy. I had booked a Toyota Corolla to drive from Canberra to Melbourne (which is a fine car!), and when I arrived at Canberra airport to pick it up the young lady at Europcar noticed that I was driving to Melbourne and that a Volvo of similar size was available and offered it as a free upgrade. I accepted the upgrade and was absolutely delighted with it.

I can't believe how bad the service was. I rang on 3 separate days, made the booking not once but twice, including credit card details. Was never called back (as promised twice) only to learn eventually that they could not meet my order at all anyway. I will never, ever use Europcar. I'd rather walk! (would give zero stars if it was an option)
