Have had multiple unpleasant encounters with David Jones staff within the past month. The customer service is ridiculously poor, three staff members were standing around chatting. Another sales lady walked past, made direct eye contact with me yet didn't come over to assist me. Had to wait 10 minutes at the Yves Saint Laurent counter before getting any service and in the end they weren't helpful. Another occasion was when I bought a cologne and realised I had gotten the wrong one. I rang up and asked if they could refund the item and they said yes. When I went in store they were only able to give me store credit despite telling me I could get a full refund and the sales assistant was snobby and rude.
DJ's, I used to love you but it's time for a divorce. You crossed a line yesterday: you asked for too much in exchange for too little. Here's the thing: When I recently attempted to complete an online order (who doesn't order things online these days, right?), you knocked me back. Not because my credit was poor (I have an unsullied credit rating with Visa, just so you know), but because I dared question why you wanted an image of my driver's license and my passport in exchange for some bedding. Really? My identity for bedding, I said? You raised your heavy hand, insisted that it had to do with "security" (who's, for heaven's sake?), and then you cancelled my order. Fine, Visa reassures me that there's plenty of fish in the sea. Off I go. Oh wait, before I go, maybe a restraining order? On the grounds of violating the PCI-DSS (Industry standard for online payment card processing) under section 4.2? Visa, my first love, thinks so.
Didn't have the product I wanted so I ended up getting from Myers because Myers had the colour I wanted instead. Bought a juicer that was worth $370 after discount, Imagine the profit David Jones could have made if they keep track of their stock. The staff was friendly though.
I'm not sure why David Jones even exists anymore. Expensive and selection is limited in every department. Staff are friendly and helpful however.
A great department store. Lovely things.
